The Bird’s Nest

Winter Camp 2025 · Ages 7+ · Theme: The blessed life of Sayyida Maryam & Prophet ʿĪsā

As part of our Winter Camp exploring Sayyidah Maryam and Prophet ʿĪsā, the children began with Sayyidah Ḥannah (mother of Sayyidah Maryam). Seeing a mother bird feeding her young awakened Ḥannah’s longing for a child. She turned to Allah in duʿā, beginning the remarkable story of Sayyidah Maryam.

Children recreated this moment through bird-and-nest artwork, exploring motherhood, longing, duʿā, trust in Allah and the beginnings of Maryam’s story.

The workshop opened into the wider story of Sayyidah Maryam and Prophet ʿĪsā through making, storytelling and reflection together.

About

Small workshops where children learn the Sunnah by making something they keep.

A story from our history, made with their own hands, becomes something a child carries into their future. One workshop at a time, they build on it.

Our mark

Look up at the Rawdah Sharif

At the crown of an old Ottoman arch above the mihrab, a dot rests between two curving stones. You may have seen it on your travels.

It is our insignia.

How workshops are approached

01

One theme, done properly

Each workshop takes one story and stays with it, using real materials. Children are treated as makers whose work deserves care.

02

Designed for the room

Workshops are designed with care for the age, material, theme and people in the room.

03

Age suitability

7+ is the safe default. Each workshop sets its own range, from 5–8 with an adult to 12–16, and mixed-age family sessions.

Booking and cancellations+

The booking and cancellation policy will be published here when booking opens.

Safeguarding+

A formal safeguarding statement will be published here once the policy is in place. Questions in the meantime are welcome through Contact.

Photography and children’s work+

Consent is always sought for each child when a parent signs up, and kept on file. Only then may finished work and process photographs appear in the gallery. Children are never named or identified.
